Alkaline diet claims to balance body pH through food. However, body tightly regulates blood pH (7.35-7.45). Diet can't significantly change this. That said, alkaline foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts) are healthy regardless of pH claims.

I feel better eating "alkaline" foods but probably because they're just healthier overall.

Kidney can handle dietary acid load. The health benefits come from more whole foods, not pH.
